Product info

Intended use

Usage of Compact Dry VP is a simple and safe test procedure for detection and quantification of Vibrio parahaemolyticus as well as Vibrio spp. in foods or raw materials. The ready-to-use plates consist of a special 50 mm diameter petri dish containing a detection specific nutrient pad.

General Information

Vibrio parahaemolyticus-associated gastroenteritis is the infection caused by this organism. The bacterium naturally inhabits coastal waters and is present in higher concentrations during the summer. The organism is halophilic or salt-requiring. Therefore Vibrio parahaemolyticus is found in marine environments, sea foods, and the feces of patients with acute enteritis.

Compact Dry VP can not only easily detect Vibrio parahaemolyticus, but also differentiate Vibrio parahaemolyticus from other Vibrio species. The product contains a specific chromogenic substrate for Vibrio parahaemolyticus which develops blue / green or blue colonies, whereas Vibrio spp. develop white colonies.

The ready-to-use, chromogenic Compact Dry plates are suitable for in-process controls as well as controls of finished products. With the optional additional product Promedia ST-25 swab test (Z0302) Compact Dry plates may also be used for surface sampling and therefore applied for quantitative hygiene monitoring even at surfaces which are difficult to reach.

Benefits:

  • Compact Dry VP is therefore an extremely easy-to-use method and also convincing due to the high time saving; a confirmation test is also not necessary.
