Normalmente viene utilizzato per speziare prodotti a base di carne, insaccati, condimenti o minestre istantanee e pu\u00f2 essere presente in basse concentrazioni nei cibi pronti lavorati. Tutte le parti del sedano sono utilizzate nella preparazione dei cibi: foglie, gambo e testa. Poich\u00e9 la pianta del sedano e quella del prezzemolo sono molto simili, nei campi o durante il raccolto o la lavorazione possono essere scambiate tra di loro portando a contaminazioni indesiderate.
