Het wordt typisch gevonden in mais.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zearalenon is een fytohormoon dat afgezien van zijn anabole eigenschappen, voornamelijke oestrogene effecten vertoont. Door deze oestrogene eigenschappen kan zearalenon vruchtbaarheidsstoornissen bij dieren veroorzaken met symptomen van hyperoestrogenisme \u2013 een aspect van een ziekte die voornamelijk bij varkens is gemeld maar ook is beschreven bij andere soorten, zoals koe, paard en schaap.
