Dit kan per ongeluk gebeuren als gevolg van gebrek aan deskundigheid, of met opzet als fraude.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over het algemeen gesproken is deze vorm van fraude geen probleem voor de voedselveiligheid maar wel voor de kwaliteit. Onjuiste etikettering (bijv. bevroren filet) wordt door consumenten en industri\u00eble verwerkers niet gewenst en leidt tot hogere kosten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Om redenen van transparantie voor consumenten is het verplicht vissoorten te etiketteren met zowel de handelsnaam (in de desbetreffende nationale taal) alsook de wetenschappelijke naam.
