Meestal wordt deze gebruikt in een kruidenmengsel in voedingsmiddelen als vleesproducten, worstjes, dressings of instantsoepen en kan in lage concentraties aanwezig zijn in gemaksvoeding. Alle delen van de plant kunnen worden gebruikt voor voedingsbereiding \u2013 zowel blad, als stengel en kop.
