RIDASCREEN® Salmonella is a sandwich enzyme immunoassay for the rapid detection of Salmonella spp. in food, feed and environmental samples after enrichment (ISO, FDA, USDA, FSIS, BAM). The screening result (presumptive presence / absence) can be obtained in less than 23 hours.
RIDASCREEN® Salmonella has been approved for food, feed and environmental samples by the European validation organisation AFNOR according to EN/ISO 16140 standard.
Salmonella is a significant cause of food-borne illness. It is the most important pathogen responsible for food poisoning worldwide. Highly vulnerable risk groups are babies, small children, old people or patients with low immunity. Within these people the Salmonellae can cause heavy infections which could lead to death if they are not medical treated in time. Salmonellae are known to occur in a broad variety of different foods. Raw foods such as meat, milk or eggs are often known to be naturally contaminated.
RIDASCREEN® Salmonella is a robust, flexible test used to detect motile and non-motile Salmonella (including S. pullorum and S. gallinarum) from an overnight enrichment broth. It works with a simplified one step enrichment procedure to revive any sub-lethally damaged Sallmonella spp. and increase cell numbers. The results can be read visually or automated with a micro plate reader. All reagents are differently coloured for a better visual follow up of the pipeting steps.
- Simple: One-step pre-enrichment, capture, enrichment and detection of Salmonella directly in micro wells.
- Rapid: Results in less than 23 h.
- Sensitive: Detects 1 Salmonella in 25 g sample.
- Cost-effective: Screening of samples with RIDASCREEN® Salmonella saves material, time and money.
- Approved: By AFNOR and MicroVal according to EN/ISO 16140 standard.
