The test detects DNA of gluten-containinig cereals (wheat, rye, barley, oat, spelt and kamut) according to directive (EC) 1169/2011. For the quantitative determination the use of the laboratory reference material SureFood® QUANTARD Allergen 40 containing 40 mg wheat / kg food sample and a standard dilution is required.

The real-time PCR assay can be used with established real-time PCR instruments (Roche LightCycler®, Rotor-Gene Q, ABI PRISM, Eppendorf realplex, BioRad CFX96, Agilent MxSeries etc.).

For DNA-preparation the use of SureFood® PREP Advanced, protocol 1 is recommended.

General Information:

The test detects the quantitative DNA amount of gluten-containinig cereals (wheat, rye, barley, oat, spelt and kamut) in food samples according to EU regulation 2007/68 EC. For the quantitative determination the use of the laboratory reference material SureFood® QUANTARD Allergen 40 containing 40 mg wheat / kg food sample and a standard dilution is recommended. The real-time PCR assay can be used with established real-time PCR instruments.

Detection limit The SureFood® ALLERGEN QUANT Gluten PCR has a limit of detection of ≤ 0,4 ppm. The limit of quantification is 1 ppm using SureFood® PREP Allergen. The limit of detection and quantification were determined using the SureFood® QUANTARD Allergen 40 (matrix: corn flour). The assay limit of detection depends on sample matrix, processing grade, DNA-preparation and DNA-content.
