Intended use:

The test can be used for the differentiation of the White (Hippoglossus hippoglossus) and Black Halibut (Reinhardtius hippoglossoides) in fish products. Each reaction contains an internal amplification control and an internal detection assay for animal DNA (IAAC).

For DNA-preparation of raw material the use of SureFood® PREP Basic and for highly processed food and feed the use of SureFood® PREP Advanced is recommended.

General information:

The real-time PCR assay can be used with established real-time PCR instruments, equipped for detection of three fluorescence emissions at 522 nm, 553 nm and 670 nm at the same time.

LOD (Detection limit) The SureFood® FISH ID 3plex Halibut IAAC real-time PCR is developed for the detection of White and Black Halibut DNA in muscle meat mixture at a relative amount of 1 %. The assay limit of detection depends on sample matrix, processing grade, DNA preparation and DNA content.
Cross reactivity

Cross reactivity was observed in the white halibut detection system with DNA extracts from Hippoglossus stenolepsis.
