The test can be used for the differentiation of the White (Hippoglossus hippoglossus) and Black Halibut (Reinhardtius hippoglossoides) in fish products. Each reaction contains an internal amplification control and an internal detection assay for animal DNA (IAAC).
For DNA-preparation of raw material the use of SureFood® PREP Basic and for highly processed food and feed the use of SureFood® PREP Advanced is recommended.
The real-time PCR assay can be used with established real-time PCR instruments, equipped for detection of three fluorescence emissions at 522 nm, 553 nm and 670 nm at the same time.

Cross reactivity was observed in the white halibut detection system with DNA extracts from Hippoglossus stenolepsis.
