VitaFast® Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid)
Art. No. P1010
Product info
Intended use
VitaFast® Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid) is a test in microtiter plate format for the quantitative determination of vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) in foods, pharmaceutical products and other sample material. Furthermore the total amount of vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid + L-dehydroascorbic acid) can be detected (see application note).
General Information
Ascorbic acid is a clear, odourless, cristalline solid substance which has a sour flavour. There are four stereoisomeric variants but only L-(+)-ascorbic acid (also referred to as vitamin C) is biologically active. Its vitamin activity is the most relevant property of L-ascorbic acid: humans cannot produce vitamin C and require it as part of their nutrition. A deficiency can result in the manifestation of scurvy. L-ascorbic acid and its salt, the anion L-ascorbate, will hereinafter be referred to as ascorbic acid and ascorbate, respectively.
Benefits:
- The method is robust and suitable for the routine determination of the ascorbic acid content in a multitude of foodstuffs and beverages.
- This test has very low detection and quantification limit.
