Intended use

RIDASCREEN®FAST Vitamin B12 is a competitive enzyme immunoassay for the quantitative determination of vitamin B12 in milk, milk powder, food for special medical purpose, grain and cereals, fortified flour, vitamin powder, -mixture, -tablets, and vitamin juice.

General Information

Vitamin B12 belongs to group of the water soluble vitamins. It can’t be produced by the human body and therefore must be included in the diet. Vitamin B12 is needed only in small concentrations, however it plays an important role for the nervous system, has protective effects for the heart and plays an important role in nucleotide biosynthesis, iron intake, and metabolism of amino acids. The lack of vitamin B12 can lead to anemia and neurological deficits.

Benefits:

  • High cross reactivity for a large number of vitamin B12 derivatives allowing for comprehensive screening.
  • The results are available within 1 h, so the test is very fast and suitable for in-process and finalproduct control.
  • No toxic chemicals (cyanides) are used and no additional reagents are required with the exception of distilled / demineralized water.
