Mycotoxines
Mycotoxines zijn toxische metabolieten die door schimmels worden geproduceerd. Ze kunnen ernstige acute en chronische effecten hebben op de gezondheid van mens en dier. De mycotoxineanalyse van voeding en diervoeder is daarom noodzakelijk en vaak verplicht door wetgeving. Moderne testkits maken een snelle kwalitatieve en kwantitatieve analyse van mycotoxines mogelijk.
Tot in het verre verleden hebben mycotoxines (zoals we ze nu kennen) de kwaliteit van landbouwproducten ondermijnd. Belangrijke producten als mais, tarwe, rijst, soja en pinda’s kunnen zijn besmet met mycotoxines, afhankelijk van de groeicondities en de opslagomstandigheden. Zo kunnen ook andere producten als rogge, haver, hazelnoten, vijgen, druiven of specerijen door mycotoxines zijn aangetast. De consumptie van met mycotoxines besmette producten kan acute toxische effecten en chronische effecten hebben op de gezondheid van mens en dier. Behalve gezondheidskosten spelen ook directe economische factoren een rol, zoals minder efficiënte groei van boerderijdieren, handelsverliezen door import- en exportbeperkingen, en directe verliezen door lagere oogstwaarde. Om de gezondheid van consumenten en dieren wereldwijd te beschermen, bestaat er wetgeving voor mycotoxines.

Methoden voor mycotoxineanalyse
De analyse van mycotoxines biedt enkele unieke uitdagingen: schimmeltoxines zijn natuurlijk voorkomende verontreinigende stoffen. De opbrengst wordt vóór de oogst beïnvloed door weercondities en landbouwpraktijken. De opbrengst wordt na de oogst beïnvloed door de opslagcondities. Dit stelt bepaalde uitdagingen aan het risicomanagement van mycotoxines: waar, wanneer, hoe vaak en hoeveel moet ik testen?
Mycotoxines zijn erg ongelijkmatig door een product verspreid en kunnen in zeer lage gehaltes aanwezig zijn. De te testen monsters kunnen analytisch eenvoudige matrices zijn zoals tarwe en mais, of kunnen erg gecompliceerde matrices zijn zoals specerijen, koffie of complexe mengsels van bestanddelen zoals in diervoeder. Het is erg belangrijk de juiste bemonsterings- en analytische methode te kiezen voor het te testen product. Multi-mycotoxineanalyse
Mycotoxines komen vaak samen voor in verschillende producten. Het is niet ongebruikelijk verschillende trichothecenen in één product aan te treffen, soms zelfs in combinatie met zearalenon. Andere producten kunnen zowel aflatoxine als ochratoxine of aflatoxine en fumonisine bevatten. Multi-mycotoxinemethoden kunnen gelijktijdig verscheidene mycotoxines detecteren. We bieden oplossingen aan voor een effectieve zuivering van multi-mycotoxines vóór de analyse met HPLC of LC-MS/MS.
Mycotoxinereferentiemateriaal
Het testen van mycotoxines vormt een unieke uitdaging voor analytische laboratoria. Gecompliceerde matrices, ongelijkmatig verspreide verontreinigingen, erg lage gehaltes zijn maar enkele van de uitdagingen die zich aandienen. Het belang van de keuze van de juiste monstervoorbereiding en analytische methode is duidelijk. Het gebruik van gecertificeerde mycotoxinereferentiematerialen bij het testen van mycotoxines maakt uw kwaliteitscontrole betrouwbaarder.

Mycotoxinestandaarden
Standaardoplossingen voor mycotoxines worden routinematig gebruikt bij de analyse van mycotoxines. Ze kunnen worden gebruikt om een kalibratiecurve voor het HPLC-systeem te maken, om een accurate bepaling van de toxine te waarborgen. De standaardoplossing kan ook worden gebruikt om monsters vast te leggen om de extractie-efficiëntie van de toxine uit bepaalde voedingsmiddelen met behulp van een bepaald oplosmiddel te controleren, of als alternatief om monsterextracten vast te leggen.
