Intended use
RIDASCREEN®FAST Biotin is a competitive enzyme immunoassay for the quantitative determination of biotin in milk, milk powders, food for special medical purpose, grain and cereals, vitamin tablets, vitamin mixtures, vitamin powders, vitamin gummies, vitamin waters and vitamin juices.
General Information
Biotin belongs to the group of water-soluble vitamins. It cannot be produced by the human body and must, therefore, be obtained through one’s diet. While biotin is required in only small amounts, it plays a crucial role in metabolism. Serving as a coenzyme, biotin assists in the conversion of carbohydrates and proteins into energy and facilitates the synthesis of fatty acids. Additionally, biotin is vital for the growth and repair of skin, hair, and nails. Although biotin deficiency rarely occurs in healthy adults with a balanced diet, genetic conditions can lead to serious health problems when there is a lack of biotin.
