RIDA®SMART APP: Mycotoxin analysis just got better
Since the RIDA®SMART APP is available, analyzing mycotoxins is easier and faster. Now, we have made the smartphone app even more powerful and user-friendly. In addition to some technical improvements, new test kits are now supported, too.
Lateral flow tests are widespread in mycotoxin analysis, since they can be easily performed on-site and provide fast results. However, if you want to analyze the test strips not only qualitatively (positive/negative), but also quantitatively, you will need a LFD reader. The RIDA®SMART APP is a completely new and comfortable method to analyze lateral flow test strips quantitatively: simply via smartphone. Perform the test, scan the test strip and you’re done!
Now, we have used the first feedback to make the app still a little better. The most important innovation: The RIDA®SMART APP now supports three more test kits in addition to RIDA®QUICK Aflatoxin RQS. This makes it possible to quickly quantify contamination with aflatoxin, deoxynivalenol (DON) and zearalenone in different matrices. Another major advantage is that the measuring range is expanded when using the RIDA®SMART APP. For instance, the measuring range of RIDA®QUICK Zearalenon RQS normally lies between 75 and 500 µg/kg. In conjunction with the app, the test achieves a measuring range of 50-1.000 µg/kg. The currently compatible test kits are:

For the future, we plan to make the app compatible with further test kits.
Overview of other app improvements:
- A new measuring mode is available: The serial measurement allows faster processing of several subsequent analyses.
- The sample ID can now be generated automatically.
- The results can be exported in 2 different versions: as a detailed report and as a handy overview.
- We improved camera focusing to make the scanning of the test strip even easier.
